Types of teeth whitening

In office dental whitening

This helps to achieve that white smile instantly, the process takes approximately 1 hour as the dentist carefully prep your teeth and gums prior to whitening. The effect is instant because the process is being sped up by the blue light which activates the compounds in the whitening gel to break up the discolored particles. Furthermore, the concentration of hydrogen or carbamide peroxide in whitening gels used in a dental setting is higher to aid in hastening the process.

Take home kits

Provided by dental clinics, but they do not usually come with the blue light, and the concentration of the whitening agents is lower. However, results may turn out to be similar even though the time taken to reach the stage is a little longer.

FAQ on Aesthetic Dentistry

From assessing the condition of your teeth to evaluating the health of your gums. We answer your questions even further upon examination in our clinic.

Why is there teeth sensitivity after whitening?

This is due to the bleaching agent penetrating to the deeper layers of the tooth where the nerves are holding up, when there is a stimulus such as cold or hot temperature or even during brushing or chewing, there will be a sharp discomfort (sensitivity). This usually resolves after a few days or up to a week.

Can I use whitening toothpaste to brush my teeth after veneer placements?

It is not recommended to use such toothpaste as they usually contain abrasive particles that may scratch the smooth surfaces of the porcelain veneers resulting in these surfaces attracting more plaque.

What is the longevity period like for dental crowns?

Dental crowns usually could last up to 15 years or a lifetime, depending on the use of these prostheses.

Can I consume hard texture food after veneer placements?

Dental veneers can be durable, but that doesn't mean they are indestructible. Veneers might potentially break or fall off if you consume hard foods or grind your teeth frequently.
